Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Brownies

A bronwie base with topped with a cookie dough filling and chocolate ganache

We have a tradition in our family…when Dad makes his wonderful chocolate chip cookies, he is required to save some of the dough for the family to eat.  This has become such a resolute tradition that we sometimes give chocolate chip cookie dough as Christmas presents to our children.  I know it’s a bit lame, but we always know that it will either be eaten as dough or baked as cookies, it never sticks around for long.

By using this brownie base recipe from the Orange Cream Brownie post, you might already have your brownies stored in the freezer just waiting for the next yummy brownie recipe. This is another recipe from my A+ brownie collection and is often requested at family and church gatherings.  If you love chocolate chip cookie dough, you’ll absolutely adore this treat.

Just a quick summary of how I make my brownies and then store them.  I use 1 package of commercially prepared brownie mix and 1 made-from scratch brownie recipe.  I mix the two recipes together and then bake them in a jelly roll pan ( I always place parchment paper in the bottom of the jelly roll pan so I can remove the whole pan of brownies easily). When the brownies are cooled, I remove the brownies from the pan and slice in half and then freeze them for future use.  The halves are perfect for the 9 x 13 inch-sized recipe. It make life so easy when you need a quick, but delicious treat or dessert.

No special instructions for this brownie, just the brownie base, the chocolate chip cookie dough filling and the chocolate ganache. Then refrigerate for an hour, slice, serve and enjoy the compliments that are sure to come your way.  Your brownies will be the hit of the party.

Recipe Notes

Layer 2 of cookie dough brownies

If you love the cookie dough filling, you can double the recipe and spread it on extra thick.  Just make sure you refrigerate it a bit longer so it is cold and firm when applying the chocolate ganache.
